Admission to the Academy is selective and reserved for those doctoral candidates genuinely committed to enhancing their IB qualifications.

Excellent study records and strong motivation to develop expertise in IB are prerequisites. Engagement in international or non-profit activities before the Ph.D. studies is an advantage.

Most suitable candidates for the AIB-CIBER Doctoral Academy are Ph.D. students with knowledge of the fundamentals of the nature and epistemology of social science research and research design and, when applicable, data analysis. Such candidates would typically be in the dissertation stage of their Ph.D. programs and have a relatively clear idea about their dissertation topic and literature.

The Academy is open to business school Ph.D. students in mainstream/functional areas (e.g.,  strategy, marketing, finance, information systems, international business), as well as to students in other social sciences (e.g., psychology, economics, international economics, international relations, sociology, and political science). Excellent study records and strong motivation to develop expertise in IB are prerequisites. Engagement in international or non-profit activities before the Ph.D. studies is an advantage.

• Letter of Recommendation from Advisor/Supervisor/Program Director

• Statement of Purpose (motivation letter) explaining why an applicant is interested in the program and how earning the certificate can develop a scholarly career

• An academic CV (include doctoral level courses and any international conferences attended)

• Short video in English introducing yourself and discussing academic research interests

To be accepted, applicants must demonstrate English language proficiency by submitting a 3-5-minute-long video introducing themselves and discussing academic research interests.

Acceptance decisions are made by September 15, 2024.

Applications for Cohort 2 will be open from June 1-July 15, 2024.
