About the Module 6
Sustainability is an essential consideration for companies operating in an increasingly interconnected and resource-constrained world. Multinational enterprises (MNEs) play a pivotal role in shaping global sustainability outcomes, as their decisions influence supply chains, labor practices, environmental impact, and corporate governance across multiple regions. However, the effectiveness of corporate sustainability efforts is deeply influenced by regulatory frameworks, value systems, and policy shifts, which can either accelerate or hinder progress toward sustainable business practices.
In this evolving landscape, businesses must balance profitability with social and environmental responsibility, adapting to changing regulations, stakeholder expectations, and evolving sustainability-driven innovations. From implementing circular economy models to integrating ESG (Environmental, Social, and Governance) principles, companies are redefining success beyond short-term financial gains. Yet, the challenge lies not only in adopting sustainable practices but also in navigating the complex interplay between global policies, cultural values, and economic priorities that shape the sustainability agenda.
As businesses address the complexities of climate change, ethical trade, and sustainable development, their ability to create resilient, future-proof strategies will determine their long-term viability. Understanding how policy changes, global governance, and shifting societal values influence sustainability in international business is key to driving meaningful impact—for companies, societies, and the planet.
